zara martin - model + dj

We are super excited to announce our collaboration with Zara Martin and Women for Women International. Zara is a long-standing Ambassador for Women for Women International, a charity which helps women survivors of war to rebuild their lives. Women enrol on the charity’s year-long training programme, where they learn how to earn and save money, improve their family’s health and make their voices heard at home and in their community.

‘The Girl Hero collaboration with Zara was born out of strong mutual values in sisterhood and female empowerment. To be able to support women survivors of war through the incredible charity, Women for Women International, alongside Zara Martin is a real privilege, and a cause close to our hearts.’

Sophie Rees, Creative Director of Delores.

The range of tees, featuring the Girl Hero design, will be available in a variety of colour ways and will be on sale from 1st May exclusively through Delores Daywear, with £6 from each t-shirt sold going to Women for Women International.

We sat down with Zara to find out more about the darling of the Fashion Week scene and her life, loves and inspirations.

What advice would you give your 16 year old self?

- Probably “stop sneaking into nightclubs & do something more important."

When are you happiest?

- When I’m being cuddled.

What does being an ambassador for Women for Women mean to you?

- I feel very fortunate to have been given an opportunity to be able to support a charity with such great purpose. Women for Women International, as an organisation, are transforming lives. They have helped almost half a million of the most marginalised women in countries affected by war by offering support and access to skills so they are able to create sustainable change & self-sufficiency for themselves & their families. Those of us living in countries currently unaffected by conflict can try and understand what these women are going through, but we will never fully understand. We need to spread the word, we need to help.

Who have been your biggest female influences to date (big or small!)?

- My mum, and my friends. I am lucky to be surrounded by such good people who constantly inspire me.

How would your girlfriends describe you?

- I don’t know, so I asked them:

Laura Whitmore: “Kind hearted & loyal, not to mention so fun on a night out! She’s a girls girl.”

Amber Le Bon:  “Zara is the ultimate cool girl, you always have fun with her. She’s a crazy loyal friend who always has your back & is one of the strongest women I know.”

Whinnie Williams: “Intelligent, hilarious, unstoppable and drinks Vodka neat! Oh and she aint half bad to look at either lol.”

Sai Bennett: “Zara is not only an amazing business mogul, but also an amazing friend. She’s a true woman’s woman and a kind and loyal nurturer… Not to mention, hilarious."

And last but not least, song to be played as you enter the club?

- Diva - Beyonce LOL
